To celebrate the impressive legacy of Hans J. Wegner, the CH24 Wishbone Chair and CH327 table have now been reintroduced in oiled teak with oiled oak details as originally designed. Teak is characterized by its high strength, stability and vivid color, which elegantly changes from greens and oranges to reddish-brown tones during its lifetime. Historically, teak was widely used in the 1950s and 1960s to make some of the first Wegner Mix chairs. As needed, the use of tropical teak shifted from indoor to outdoor furniture due to its high durability. Carl Hansen & Søn's investment in the purchase of teak from its own sawmill in Vietnam has resulted in teak interior furniture now being available with FSC™ certification. The very first model designed by Hans J. Wegner exclusively for Carl Hansen & Søn in 1949 was the CH24 or Wishbone Chair, which has been in continuous production since its introduction in 1950. With its absolutely unmistakable shape, the legendary CH24 Wishbone Chair by Hans J. Wegner occupies a special place in the world of modern design. When designing the CH24, Wegner decided to combine the backrest and armrest in a single piece. To give the steam-curved top stability and ensure comfortable seating, Wegner developed the characteristic Y-shaped backrest, after which the Wishbone Chair is named.
