Fritz Hansen The Egg Lounge Chair Leather, Concrete

In 1958, Arne Jacobsen designed the Egg™ for the lobby and lounge areas of the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. Almost all elements of the hotel building were designed by Jacobsen - from the architecture to the interior. The Gesamtkunstwerk was a great opportunity for Jacobsen to put his theories of integrated design and architecture into practice. Egg is one of Jacobsen's greatest triumphs - a sculptural contrast to the almost purely vertical and horizontal surfaces of the hotel building. The idea for the Egg was the product of a new technique that Jacobsen was the first to use; a strong inner foam cover under the upholstery. Attention!
