The fixture provides a pleasant, glare-free light and is designed based on Poul Henningsen's principle of a reflective three-screen system, which directs most of the light downwards. It emits a side-directed light and illuminates itself, which gives a soft radiance from within the core.

The lower shade is also equipped with a frosted glass shield to ensure that the downward light is 100% glare-free.
