The chimney sweep stands tall and upright, proudly wearing his uniform with shiny buttons, white scarf and the iconic top hat. There is something majestic about him, as H.C. Andersen puts it: "In fact, he might as well have been made a prince as a sweeper, since he was just a sham." Only the chimney sweep is elegant and adventurous, and together with the shepherdess they become a symbol of love and unity. In the fairy tale of the shepherdess and the chimney sweep, the old Chinese tries to force the shepherdess to marry the satyr. The couple in love decides to flee through a stovepipe to the roof and out into the world – which overwhelms the shepherd a bit. Therefore, they return home, and fortunately it turns out that the old Chinese can no longer have any influence on the fate of the couple. They go to great lengths to be together, and the love between them makes all the difference. Kay Bojesen and H.C. Andersen have a lot in common. Both were passionate about storytelling and were ahead of their time. They created a new way of storytelling and, with their original stories and unparalleled creativity, were quickly loved by children and adults alike – and still are. The chimney sweep is turned from FSC-certified beech wood and is characterized by the quality craftsmanship with which all wooden figures are made by Kay Bojesen. Its form is based on the original figures from the archives, which contain a number of uniformed characters created by Kay Bojesen, such as the guardsman, the postman and the policeman. It is painted by hand with great precision and accuracy to ensure the magic and wonder that can only be added by the human hand. Colour: Black Material: lacquered beech, FSCMase: LxWxH 4,5x7x20,5 cm
