Kay Bojesen Reworked Anniversary Bear, Medium

Kay Bojesen's bear will be 70 years old in 2022. We celebrate the anniversary with the Reworked Bears, which carry a 70th anniversary stamp on the paw and are delivered in a special anniversary wooden box in a limited edition. The large bear measures 40 cm and is a scaled version of Kay Bojesen's original design. The big bear is limited to 350 numbered specimens. The Reworked Bear is not only a piece of design history, it also has a sustainability aspect and pays tribute to environmental awareness in craftsmanship and design. Because only wood scraps are used in the production of the bear, and each individual bear looks different, depending on which wood is available on the day of production. They are made by hand with care and attention, using the same methods as in 1952, when the friendly bear welcomed the world with open arms. Kay Bojesen's design was inspired by a bear cub named Ursula at Copenhagen Zoo. It was too small to live in the same cage with the older bears. So the cub stayed with the zoo director until it was big enough to live with the adult bears. Kay Bojesen's iconic design is reinterpreted in a new and modern way through the use of upcycled wood, thus also reflecting the times in which we live. Design tradition, wood and innovation meet to make the Reworked Bear a real collector's item with a very special story.
