Fritz Hansen Cross Plex Table Lamp, H 50cm

The Cross-Plex™ lamp by Danish architect Bodil Kjær saw the light of day in 1961. This extraordinary lamp – in the shape of a cross and made of plexiglass, hence the name – consists only of the bare necessities. Cross-Plex is thus a pure reflection of the characteristic, clean, straight lines of the architect and designer in all her creations. Seen in profile, the table lamp almost looks like a miniature building, with the opal shade acting as an illuminated roof. The base is put together like a puzzle that leaves just as much space as the cable needs to run perfectly through the middle of the model to the socket. These transparent details, which characterize an honest design, are both simple and sophisticated.
