Aalto's pressed glassware is one of her most notable designs. The collection was inspired by the water rings that are created when a stone is thrown into the water. The glasses could be admired for the first time at a competition organized by the Karhula Glass Factory in 1932. Aalto's Bölgeblick (as the collection was originally called) took second place. The collection went into production in the same year and continues to prove that basic design stands the test of time.
