Designed by Hans J. Wegner, the CH37 Dining Chair from 1962 is clearly inspired by the furniture principles of the American shakers – simplicity, functionality and craftsmanship. The CH37 also features many carefully thought-out details, which is characteristic of Wegner's style. The light, elegant appearance of the chair is created by the vertical round legs and a backrest that arches backwards – slightly more up than down – to support the back in the best possible way. The hand-woven seat made of paper cord and the gently rounded and flat armrests – fixed to the front legs with a striking cap – ensure comfort and robustness.
